Management Plan PDF Print E-mail
The San Lorenzo Protected Area now has a valuable tool used for zoning, land use and regulation of the activities that are being developed in the area, The Management Plan. This document has been elaborated by the CEPSA consulting firm, with the combined effort of  the National Environment Authority, the Interoceanic Regional Authority, the National Culture Institute, and the Panamanian Tourism Institute, with input from the Panama Canal Authority and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, CEASPA and other non governmental organizations and people interested in the development and appropriate management of the resources of the area. One of the main aspects in the Management Plan is the proposal for the change of category of the area to National Park The main management objectives are:         ·      The conservation of a significant sample of ecosystems

·       Development of research and education activities.

·    Support for ecotourism activities as a focus  for community development

·     Support to other economic activities in the buffer zone

·      Increasing  participation in  decision-making

·     Training included in all the management programs

·     All activities concerning Fort San Lorenzo itself will be based on the site plan

The Management Plan also shows  the zoning approved, which applies to the different programs and subprograms proposed and their respective activities.
