Interns and Volunteers

CEASPA welcomes national and international volunteers and interns, young or old, who offer their energy and talents to support research and action in conservation and human development, from the Centro El Tucan, in Achiote. CEASPA in the past few years has worked with interns and volunteers from Engineers for a Sustainable World, from the University of Panama and the regional Colon branch; and from the Universities of McGill, Madison-Wisconsin, Aberystwyth, Wales, and volunteers from Spain, the United States and England. We have a five year agreement with Colorado State University, to receive students in “alternative spring breaks”, and with the Conway School of Landscape Design, Massachusetts.

We are currently signing an agreement with the City of Knowledge in Clayton.

Possible topics include: research and education on birds, native platns, butterflies and other insects, mammals, archaeology and marine fossils, trail design and construction, exhibition design and signage, environmental and cultural interpretation, photography, video making and graphic design, data base management of documents and maps, sustainable agriculture, small scale food processing, cooking, gardening, food conservation, art and theatre, poetry, cultural heritage, veterinary tours for horses and dogs…. Your imagination is the limit!

And we would like to have a Resident Naturalist to carry out environmental education activities, and participatory studies of the natural history of the area; a volunteer to manage the documentation center, and yes, a volunteer coordinator for our volunteers!

Those interested need to speak Spanish, and to cover their expenses, including medical insurance. We are flexible, you can volunteer for half a day, once a week, or for six months. Please contact us with your proposal or offer. Contact us: http://www.sanlorenzo.org.pa/component/option,com_contact/Itemid,70/lang,en/
